Welcome To The Home Of GOMTD

to my little piece of cyberspace !!!!

Hello, I'm Steve and this site is my attempt to share a little bit of information about the hobby I've been involved in for many years. I was licensed as G0MTD in December 1989 after sitting my morse test in Clifton near Bolton having previously studied the RAE at the Technical College in Wigan, my home town.

Although licensed for over 20 years I still only have just 3900 contacts in the log which shows that the amount of time I get to operate is very limited. I enjoy HF SSB and dabble with data and CW particularly when propagation is poor. My main interest, as you will see from this Site, is experimenting and building simple HF antennas. I enjoy the challenge of taking a few lengths of wire and putting them together in such a way that my signal is heard in remote and distant parts of the world.... sometimes !!!!!!

What else keeps me busy ?

For the last 8 years I've been involved with the Workington & District Amateur Radio & IT Group (MX0WRC). I'm currently a registered tutor for all 3 levels of license in the UK. My other main interest is organising and take part in expeditions to the Scottish Islands, see links below for more details.

Click on the links below for more details and keep popping back to the Site as it's continually under development.
